How Coaches Can Build a Lead Magnet Funnel That Actually Follows Up

Coaches: build a lead magnet funnel that delivers the resource, records the lead and continues the conversation instead of stopping at the download.

A lead magnet funnel isn’t finished when someone downloads the PDF. That’s where the useful part of the relationship begins.

The job of the funnel is to make a clear promise, collect the right information, deliver what was requested and help the person take a sensible next step. If any of those pieces are missing, you may be building a list without building trust or sales.

    Choose one specific problem

A useful lead magnet solves a small, recognisable problem. ‘The Complete Guide to Growing Your Business’ is too broad. ‘The five checks to make before publishing your coaching sales page’ is clearer.

The resource should attract someone who could realistically need your paid help. A high download count means little if the subject is disconnected from your offer.

    Build a focused opt-in page

    Your page needs:

    • A headline naming the result
    • A short explanation of who it is for
    • Three to five useful outcomes
    • A simple form
    • A clear privacy statement
    • One call to action

Remove unrelated navigation and competing offers. The visitor should understand what they’ll receive and what will happen after they enter their details.

    Deliver it immediately

After submission, show a confirmation page and send an email containing the resource. Using both protects the experience if an email is delayed or lands in spam.

Set expectations on the confirmation page. Tell them where to look for the email, what subject line to expect and what useful action they can take next.

    Add a short follow-up sequence

    A practical sequence might include:

    1. Immediate delivery and one quick instruction.
    2. A useful example showing how to apply the resource.
    3. A common mistake or question.
    4. A customer story connected to the same problem.
    5. An invitation to reply, book or view the relevant offer.

Each email should have a reason to exist. Avoid sending five versions of ‘Did you download it?’

    Record behaviour in your CRM

Tag the contact with the lead magnet they requested. Record the source and, where appropriate, track meaningful actions such as booking a call or completing a related quiz.

This allows future follow-up to reflect what the person actually showed an interest in. It also helps you see which lead magnets create conversations and customers rather than just downloads. Check how connected marketing systems work and compare RMM plans.

    Test every step

Submit the form yourself. Open the emails on a phone. Click every link. Reply to a message. Check that the contact record, tags and workflow are correct.

Natalie Trusdale used RMM training to move and set up her lead magnet, describing the process as easy to follow. Katherine Parsons also created her first lead magnet while using RMM. Their progress highlights the value of having the page, contact record, email and training in the same place.
